In the ever-evolving world of Baldur’s Gate 3, players have discovered numerous ways to exploit bosses using various methods. A particularly popular strategy involved the Twist of Fortune weapon, leveraging the Blood Money perk to deal damage based on an enemy’s wealth. However, a recent update from developer Larian Studios signals a crackdown on these shenanigans.
The update was shared by Reddit user Specialist-Spite on Baldur’s Gate 3 subreddit and brought an unexpected twist to the Twist of Fortune antics.
Previously, players could stack gold on enemies, unleash the weapon, and recover their riches for a repeat performance. But it seems Larian Studios has ended this with a subtle modification to the Blood Money perk.
Specialist-Spite, equipped with Twist of Fortune on character Shadowheart, entered the Self-Same Trial of Shar in Act 3. In a surprising turn of events, Shadowheart’s clone swiftly eliminated the player, wiping out over 13,000 gold in the process.
The twist? The gold was nowhere to be found when Specialist-Spite checked their purse.
The latest Baldur’s Gate 3 patch makes Twist of Fortune now consume any gold on the target, eliminating the loophole of reverse pickpocketing gold onto enemies.
While this prevents the repetitive gold-infused exploits, players can still wreak havoc by reverse pickpocketing a hefty sum onto foes. However, be forewarned—the cost of this power has skyrocketed.
Despite the crackdown on these cheeky tactics, Larian Studios maintains a balance between fun and challenge. Players can still unleash chaos by strategically using gold, but the privilege comes at a hefty price. So, if you’re aiming for the power of a nuke in Baldur’s Gate 3, be prepared to part ways with a considerable amount of gold for the privilege. The game continues to evolve, offering a blend of strategy and consequence for players navigating the twists and turns of its ever-changing landscape.
