Summer Games Fest 2023
Even though it seems like there is no end in sight to the season of game announcements and developer displays, Summer Game Fest, the summer’s biggest showcase, has already come to a conclusion. A number of new games and in-depth looks at previously announced games were unveiled during the showcase, appropriately hyping us for the upcoming year and beyond.
Geoff Keighley, a gaming journalist, organizes and hosts a live video game event called Summer gaming Fest. Several live broadcasts of the occasion are broadcast each year during the American summer. It was established in 2020 after the COVID-19 pandemic forced the cancellation of the two biggest events in the sector, E3 and Gamescom.

1. Prince Of Persia: The Lost Crown
The first segment of the program focused on Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown. This 2D side-scrolling action platformer features bright graphics and Metroidvania-inspired gameplay. During its Ubisoft Forward event this summer, Ubisoft will showcase this game more. The debut date is January 18, 2024.
2. Mortal Kombat 1
Next, a first look at Mortal Kombat 1 was shown during Summer Game Fest, highlighting the game’s harsh and recognisable gameplay. It gave us a preview of the plot and confirmed that it will take place in a different time frame. Launch day for Mortal Kombat 1 is September 19, 2023. Starting on September 14, 2023, customers who pre-order the Premium Edition will get early access to the game.
3. Sonic Superstars
Sonic Superstars, the latest adventure of the Blue Blur and bringing a new standard of gameplay and visuals to classic high-speed 2D Sonic action, was unveiled by SEGA. The mythical Northstar Islands are explored by Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, and Amy Rose.
There, they run across Dr. Eggman and try to stop him from turning the island’s animals into Badniks. Players can use Sonic and friends’ newly discovered talents either solo or in cooperative play with friends to defeat Eggman in novel and exciting ways. There are entirely new visuals, abilities, and zones to explore.
4. Path Of Exile 2
Over the years, Path of Exile has become a fan favorite among ARPG players, and while PoE is still very much in existence, many have been eagerly awaiting Path of Exile 2.
Bringing back Path of Exile 2, Grinding Gear Games is back. The brand-new gameplay footage displays a more adaptable fighting system with tonnes of magic and evil, mysterious creatures. Put July 18 in your calendar if you’re a fan of Path of Exile since further information will be released then.
5. Honkai Star Rail
Role-playing gacha video game Honkai: Star Rail was created by miHoYo and distributed globally by its subsidiary HoYoverse. On April 26, 2023, it became available for Windows and mobile platforms;
Honkai Star Rail fans, there is good news for you! According to the announcement made at the Summer Games Fest 2023, the popular game will be released on PlayStation4 and PlayStation5 sometime later this year.
6. Lies Of P
The next big announcement was related to the popular game, Lies of P. The highly-anticipated action role-playing game Lies of P will officially launch on September 19 according to developer and publisher Neowiz. The pre-orders are now open.
Fans were also treated to a brand-new trailer, and the greatest part is that starting today, players worldwide can download the public demo! The sample includes the first two chapters of the game, which include difficult boss encounters, character introductions, and interesting places to explore.
7. Sand Land
Bandai Namco Entertainment is pleased to announce the release of Sand Land from the mind behind Dragon Ball and Dr. Slump, Akira Toriyama. Play as Beelzebub, a Fiend Prince, and embark on an expedition to uncover a fabled water spring to solve the world’s water shortage.
You can customize a variety of cars in Sand Land, such as the classic Tank 104! With the assistance of the individuals you encounter while traveling over the vast desert, develop your base of operations into a prosperous metropolis. To save Sand Land, solve the mysteries of the desert and vanquish your foes.
8. Throne And Liberty
Players at home won’t have to wait long to play the first Amazon Games build of Throne and Liberty, which is available exclusively to the gaming journalists and content creators during Summer Games Fest. A free-to-play, multi-platform MMORPG with huge scale PvP and PvE, Throne and Liberty is set in the immense planet of Solisium. 9. Warhammer 40K: Space Marine 2
Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2, the explosive third-person action game that adds another level of spectacle and bombast to Games Workshop’s franchise, will feature a co-op option, and Focus Entertainment and Sabre Interactive are happy to present it in collaboration with Games Workshop.
Take on the persona of fan favorite Captain Titus and use his lethal skills and array of devastating weapons to annihilate the unrelenting Tyranid hordes. With the help of the three-player co-op mode, you may engage in endless fights with AI or friends while experiencing cosmic warfare in a new way.
The trailer of the game put a lot of emphasis on cooperative gameplay. Along with certain cinematics, it also included brief gameplay segments.
10. Banishers Ghost Of New Eden
Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden, the moving action-RPG where you pursue and combat ghostly horrors to change a tragic fate, has a compelling new trailer that Focus and Don’t Nod have published.
Play as the ghost-hunting Banishers Antea Duarte and Red mac Raith, lovers who sworn to defend the living from the threat of lingering spirits and specters. Take on a desperate search for a means to save Antea from her new predicament after she tragically transforms into one of the ghosts she despises.
11. Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare II
Our Operators have relocated to the recently evacuated Vondel, a waterfront neighborhood of a Baroque European city under fear of an impending attack from the famed masked Nikto, as a result of Al Mazrah’s plunge into darkness.
Vondel is a brand-new, medium-sized map for Resurgence, DMZ, and later in the season for classic Battle Royale in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II and Call of Duty: Warzone’s Season 04, which debuts on June 14. Four new weapons will be added to your armory, and premium Modern Warfare II gamers can deploy seven additional multiplayer maps (up from six at launch), including the legendary Showdown map’s comeback.
12. Final Fantasy VII Rebirth
Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, the second installment in the remake series, has finally received its first trailer from Square Enix. Along with footage of Cloud and the rest of the cast (including some new faces), it included an extensive look at gameplay. In early 2024, two discs of Final Fantasy VII Rebirth will be released.
When Was The Summer Games Fest 2023 Held?
Geoff Keighley called it “a season of digital video game events from the world’s top game platforms and publishers”, which includes the Summer Game Fest showcase that took place on June 8.

Summer Game Fest aired on Thursday, June 8. It started at 12PM PT / 3PM ET / 8PM BST / 9PM CET. Viewers could enjoy the show which streamed live on the YouTube channel. The show was streamed live from the YouTube Theater in Los Angeles. If you wanted to watch it on a movie-sized screen, Summer Game Fest partnered with Cinemark for free screenings of the show in 23 cities.
Playable Games At Summer Games Fest
In previous years, Summer Game Fest has collaborated with game publishers like Xbox to provide gamers a selection of samples for future titles. Players could view these demos from the comfort of their homes because the show was only available online. Industry experts were given to a selection of publisher demonstrations at Summer Game Fest Play Days in 2022.
While there were much less playable games this year at the Games Fest, there were still a few of them. And the ones who attended the fest could only thank their stars for getting their hands on some of the best games this year.
Who Were There At Summer Games Fest 2023?
The SGF stage regularly hosts a variety of publishers and studios from around the industry, and the 2023 edition promised updates from more than 40 “partners” throughout the year. Big brands like Sony, Xbox, Square Enix, and Activision were on the list, along with a number of other businesses that have had a significant impact over the past few years, such as Annapurna Interactive, HoYoVerse, and Netflix Games.
