Architecture
The Kepler architecture on this GPU is a successor to the Fermi architecture, which first came out in laptops with this renowned GForce 400M series. There are eight shedder blocks in the GK104 Kepler core named SMX. These are clocked at a similar speed as the central core.
Seven blocks are active In the Nvidia GeForce GTX 680m which leads to the 1344 CUDA cores. Even though more shader cores are present in the Kepler architecture when compared to the Fermi design, experts expect the Kepler shaders to be up to twice as power efficient.
