Amazon Spends $100 Million To Teach Cloud Customers About AI Amidst Lawsuit!

As the largest cloud service provider seeks to compete with Google and Microsoft in the market for so-called generative AI, Amazon.com Inc.’s cloud unit is developing a program to assist customers in developing and deploying new AI products.

The AWS Generative AI Innovation Center, which will connect customers with company experts in AI and machine learning, will receive a $100 million investment from Amazon Web Services. Using the new technology, they will assist a variety of clients in manufacturing, the financial services industry, and health care. According to Amazon, the sales and marketing software companies Highspot Inc. and Twilio Inc. will be the first to utilize the innovation center.

All this is happening while the company is facing a lawsuit for “duping millions of customers.” The Federal Trade Commission of the United States has taken aim at Amazon and has filed a lawsuit against it in Seattle.

The e-commerce giant was accused by the FTC of tricking “millions of consumers” into purchasing Prime subscriptions. Amazon’s sales volume is largely driven by Prime members in the United States, who pay $139 per year for free delivery. According to the FTC’s complaint, Amazon “knowingly complicated the cancellation process for Prime subscribers who sought to end their membership” for years. According to the complaint, prior to the filing of the lawsuit, Amazon informed some customers that it had “substantially revamped its Prime cancellation process.”
