Sega And Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio Unveil Their “Like A Dragon: Infinite Wealth”

In a thrilling announcement at the RGG Summit Fall 2023, Sega and Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio have set the gaming world abuzz with the revelation of the release date for their highly anticipated title, Like A Dragon: Infinite Wealth. Tech enthusiasts and gaming aficionados, mark your calendars for the epic launch on January 26, 2024, across multiple platforms, including PC, PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X/S, and Xbox One.

The excitement doesn’t end there. The RGG Summit also treated fans to an enticing glimpse of what lies ahead in this latest addition to the Like A Dragon series. The new trailer introduces Kasuga Ichiban, the protagonist on a quest to find his long-lost mother, a journey that has unexpectedly led him to the picturesque shores of Honolulu, Hawaii.

However, in classic Like A Dragon fashion, drama and intrigue await back in Tokyo and Yokohama. Ichiban’s adventure is set in motion as he encounters a crime conspiracy, a conman cab driver, and even a surprise meeting with the original protagonist, Kazuma Kiryu. Fans will be delighted to know that both Kiryu and Ichiban will share the spotlight as dual protagonists in this installment.

As our heroes navigate the Hawaiian landscape, they’ll find themselves entangled with the local Chinese mafia, the Barracudas, and their old foes from the yakuza world. Adding an unexpected twist to the tale, a wellness cult emerges on the horizon. Ichiban’s trusty allies and party members from Yakuza: Like A Dragon are all set to accompany him on this thrilling adventure in the Aloha State.

However, amidst the action-packed storyline, a poignant revelation takes center stage. Kiryu, the beloved character, is revealed to be battling a terminal illness. This emotional twist promises to tug at the heartstrings of fans. Actor Takaya Kuroda, who portrays Kiryu, drew from his personal experiences with illness to deliver a moving performance.

But it’s not all seriousness in Like A Dragon: Infinite Wealth. The game introduces a range of lighthearted activities, including surfing, karaoke, and paragliding, along with entertaining brawls that include battles with oversized sea creatures.

A second trailer showcased the expansive game world, featuring Segway riding, unique minigames like an Uber-style bicycle delivery service, and even nods to retro Sega classics like Sega Bass Fishing and SpikeOut.

In an exclusive interview at the RGG Summit, Masayoshi Yokoyama, the studio director, shed light on Kiryu’s striking new hairstyle, attributing it to his illness and hinting at Kiryu’s declining abilities as the reason behind his collaboration with Ichiban and his friends.

Lastly, Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio unveiled the opening movie for Like A Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name, featuring an original track composed by Japanese alternative musician Yojiro Noda and featuring rapper J.I.D. Gamers won’t have to wait long to dive into this side story, as it launches on November 9, 2023, for PC, PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X/S, and Xbox One.

The gaming world eagerly anticipates the arrival of Like A Dragon: Infinite Wealth on January 26, 2024, promising an emotionally charged and action-packed experience across multiple gaming platforms. Be prepared to embark on an unforgettable journey with Ichiban and Kiryu as they navigate the mysteries of Hawaii and confront their destinies.
