Counter Strike 2 Gets First Big Update Before Release, Changes To Maps & More!
Valve’s Counter Strike 2 has received its first big update before its release in summer. On June 6, a fresh version with updates to Maps, Weapons, Workshop Tools, Sub-Tick, Animation, Sound, Volumetric Smoke, Input, Rendering, and Vac was made available.
As previously indicated, the game is still in a limited testing phase during which the developers are working to iron out any bugs, glitches, problems, changes in the gameplay, etc.
In the twitter announcement, CS2 stated this update “introduces a revised loadout system where players select 15 weapons from 3 categories on CT and T-side to bring with them into matches. Including the M4A4 and M4A1-S.”

As per the latest update, when it comes to the Maps Mirage will be replacing the Dust II. On the other hand, the weapon loadout will see a few massive changes as well. They will now have “1 starting pistol, 4 pistol slots, 5 mid-tier slots (SMG and Heavy) and 5 rifle slots per team,” according to sources.
There are updates for the weapon tools as well. The players can now enable and download the tools from the settings menu in the game. For lighting on CS 2 maps, the Hammer level editor will also use GPU-accelerated ray-tracing.
Players will need a GPU with ray tracing capabilities, but this improvement will greatly reduce build times. To use the CS 2 Workshop Tools, players would need at least an Nvidia 2060 Ti or AMD 6800 XT GPU.
Apart from these, the process of purchasing the weapons have also become straightforward. On the Purchase menu, you can also see teammate purchases. Now, “stats” for weapons are merely simple descriptions. If they haven’t used the weapon, players can also return any purchase they made during the same round.
