SteelSeries Siberia Review 2022

Since you are here for the SteelSeries Siberia 200 review, let’s get right to the chase now. After using this eSports-oriented headphone for almost two weeks, here are my impressions regarding its overall capabilities:

Build Quality

siberia 200 Build Quality

When it comes to its build quality, I will be stressing over three primary factors to make the best assessment. They are:

  • Design

When it comes to the SteelSeries Siberia 200 design, I would say this headset looks pretty cool. For gamers, it has a very ergonomic and geeky look that most players will love. This headphone has false leather on the outside to give it a premium feel.

Also, the padding on the ear cups is made out of textile, which can show wrinkles after use for a month. Its flexible and eye-catching frame is what drew me to this headphone in the first place.

  • Comfort

It has a very eye-catching frame that splits on the top so that this headphone can comfortably adjust itself to your head size. However, the amount of tilt you can apply to get the most comfortable fit is too less compared to most peers.

Overall, the SteelSeries Siberia comfort level is pretty good due to its automatically adjusting headband. However, I do not consider this headphone suitable for people with larger heads due to its slightly tight fit over the ears.

  • Durability

This headphone is pretty durable, which I am certain of because I roughly handled them several times. I once threw them on my table when someone was knocking on the door. At first, I thought I placed it pretty hard, but I was surprised to find zero scratches and no looseness in the frames.

Features

steelseries siberia 200 Features

When it comes to SteelSeries Siberia 200 features, the most important ones to consider are:

  • Connecting Cable

The connecting cable of the SteelSeries Black Siberia 200 is pretty long. This makes it perfect for gamers playing on a desktop computer. It also has a volume control knob on the sides, a pretty nifty feature indeed. However, its overall big size makes it not a great choice for non-gamers. I would say that this is not the headphone you should buy if you plan to work out wearing them.

  • Noise Cancellation

The big ear frames of the SteelSeries Siberia 200 make it stand true by providing great noise cancellation. I was not able to hear the knocks on the door of my room until I got a call from my housemaid, who literally screamed, “open the door!”

  • Microphone

Many users have had complaints like “SteelSeries Siberia 200 mic not working.” This is because many users have faced this problem where the mic was not very responsive.

This happened to me as well when I was playing a game of Valorant, and my teammates were not able to hear my voice clearly. Even after trying to up the sensitivity of the mic through Discord and NVIDIA RTX Voice, it was not enough.

Sound Test

Finally, the most important section of this SteelSeries Siberia 200 review – how good is its audio output quality?

Sound Test

After conducting multiple tests and checking the sound levels through various applications, I found the output audio to be good. I feel the bass is a bit amplified, ranging between 50 Hz to 170 Hz. This feels just like any other gaming headset in this price range.

However, the high and mid range sounds are equalized poorly by default in this headset. While this may not be a deal breaker for most gamers, it will not feel up to the mark for audiophiles and music producers. For them, I would suggest going for the better of the Steelseries Siberia v2 vs 200 – the V2.

Price

Price of steelseries siberia 200 Price

The SteelSeries Siberia 200 price of $160 feels a bit too much for a headset of this quality. There are way better options available in the same price range. For gamers and music lovers alike. You can go for Logitech and HyperX headphones in this range which will give you better value for money.

FAQs (Frequently Asked Questions):

Some of the most commonly asked questions regarding the SteelSeries Siberia 200 headset and other SteelSeries products are:

Q1. Is the SteelSeries Siberia V2 Surround Sound?

The SteelSeries Siberia V2 headsets have support for 7.0 virtual surround sound. However, this feature is only applicable when the headset is connected using a USB. It reverts back to normal stereo sound when connected using a 3.5mm cable.

Q2. Are SteelSeries Mics Good?

Most SteelSeries microphones are of decent quality. They have excellent noise cancellation features, along with a 360-degree sound capture mechanic. This makes SteelSeries headsets very good for playing multiplayer games where voice communication with teammates is crucial.

Q3. Do SteelSeries Headsets Sound Good?

Yes, SteelSeries headsets are pretty good when compared with most other peers like Logitech and Razer. The sound output is pretty good, with the right equalization of treble and bass. However, these headsets are made more for gamers and not for audiophiles and music enthusiasts.

Q4. How Do I Make My SteelSeries Headset Mic Sound Better?

There is one simple tweak that you can do to make your SteelSeries mic sound better. You can:
1. Open your Windows settings and open all options on the Control Panel.
2. Click on the option called Recording.
3. Choose which headset or mic you have plugged into your system.
4. Right-click on the name of the device and then click on Properties.
5. Open the Levels option. Adjust mic sensitivity as necessary.
