As of today, if you check Zuckerberg’s Twitter bio, it says,
‘Mark Zuckerberg; Founder and CEO at Meta’.
This announcement was made during the company’s virtual and augmented reality conference. There is a lot that people discovered through this virtual conference along with an avatar of Mark Zuckerberg himself. It is a feature he is planning to introduce in the revamp of the platform.
Here are a few things said by the CEO himself in terms of the reforms including some very debate worthy subjects involving the future and the betterment of the present.
“I know that some people will say that this isn’t a time to focus on the future, and I want to acknowledge that there are important issues to work on in the present. There always will be. So for many people, I’m just not sure there will ever be a good time to focus on the future. But I also know that there are a lot of you who feel the same way that I do.”
Needless to say the prodigal entrepreneur has always strived to bring the future to the present. Zuckerberg believes that we live what we’re building. Hence, the whole ideology for Meta is not for the future, it is something for the present scenario of artificial intelligence and augmented reality which can also sustain the needs of the digital future.
What Does Meta Offer?
Zuckerberg also talks about the Messenger calling in VR. Therefore, informal video calls or the virtual marketplace can have a completely different picture with Meta. It will not be about the endless scrolling in the aid of boredom but an actual experience which will excite people to use it more.
Virtual goods, advanced games and chatting are also being talked about as additions to these new launches.
Plus, the inhibiting virtual world that is detailed enough to give us the idea of reality which is so convincing, it is not seen before.
Facebook is not exactly Meta since all the company’s platforms will be subjected to a few changes. Facebook will most probably retain its logo however the parent company will be known as Meta.
With former employees coming up like whistleblowers, leaking internal documents and controversies for public scrutiny, this ‘Meta’ move could be regarded as both positive and negative. On one side we have the speculation of Facebook simply trying to cover up the scandals without taking actual accountability for them.
On the other hand, this could be the ultimate turning point for Facebook which has been lagging behind for a few years now with the Genz shifting more towards its younger counterpart Instagram.
The senior executives of the company are yet to give more information about Meta for the public knowledge and we are eagerly waiting.
