Corsair HS70 Wireless Performance Analysis

After using this wireless headphone for a week, I’ve heard enough to make my authentic Corsair HS70 Wireless review. Here are my honest impressions regarding the performance of this headset and its features.

1. Build And Comfort

Corsair HS70 Wireless

When it comes to its build quality, this headset seems to be pretty durable. I purposely dropped it from my desk a few times (weird things I do for reviews!). However, it didn’t receive a single dent or scratch on its metal body, which made me pretty happy!

Regarding the comfort of wearing these headphones, it’s pretty good. The inner lining or surface on the headband features a sporty pattern, which looks decently cool enough. It’s also soft and rests very comfortably on my head. In one session, I wore this for 6 hours straight, and my ears and head were all fine. No pain at all!

2. Connectivity

Corsair HS70 Wireless

The wireless connectivity of this headset is like a double-edged sword. It is both its greatest strength with a significant drawback for some users.

Unlike other wireless earphones on the market, the wireless connectivity of this headset is not a Bluetooth connection. Instead, you will get a USB dongle that you need to connect to your PC or PS4’s USB port.

Therefore, you cannot connect the headphones to your mobile without an OTG connector. Therefore, if you want wireless headphones for your smartphone during daily commutes, this is not the one.

3. Battery Life

Corsair HS70 Wireless

I am somewhat happy with the battery of this wireless headset. As described on the box and on online product descriptions, it has 16 hours of battery life. While many overstate its longevity, the Corsair HS70 Wireless lasted me approximately 15.5 hours of non-stop music and gaming.

On the other hand, it took only 2.5 hours to get it back at full charge. Therefore, you can simply leave it plugged in on charge before hitting the bed. You will have it fully powered when you wake up!

4. Microphone

The detachable microphone of this headset is one of its weakest features. It feels very cheap since it’s made entirely of plastic and rubber. The recording quality is not that great even compared to cheaper headsets. Its noise reduction quality is poor as it easily picks up ambient noise, like that of my fan. I would highly suggest using a noise reducer like the NVIDIA RTX Voice.

5. Sound Quality

The Corsair HS70 Wireless gaming headset has pretty good sound quality. Unlike various other headsets, the bass is not amped up to 11 and is kept at a level that is a bit more than normal. In my opinion, that is just perfect. Overall, this is great for listening to music and gaming as well.

On the other hand, the Corsair HS70 Pro wireless gaming headset has 7.1 virtual surround sound. Unfortunately, this only works on PC and not on the PS4 since it requires the Corsair PC drivers. I highly recommend turning this on for single-player games, listening to music, and watching movies for the best experience.

Corsair HS70 Wireless Alternatives

The best Corsair HS70 Wireless alternatives that I suggest you buy from the market are:

1. Steelseries Siberia 200

Price: $160

The Steelseries Siberia 200 is a decent headset for gamers. With a flexible frame and high sound quality, you will easily get what you are looking for here! Just mind the steep price though!

2. Sennheiser Game One Gaming Headset

Price: $110

The Sennheiser Game One Gaming Headset is the perfect gaming headset if you are looking for comfort and quality at a similar price tag. It’s good for gamers, though it lacks any wireless support.

FAQs (Frequently Asked Questions):

Gamers and music lovers have asked various questions regarding the Corsair HS70 Wireless. Here are my answers to some of these questions:

Q1. Can You Connect The Corsair HS70 Wireless With Smartphones?

Ans: Yes, you can connect this Bluetooth wireless headset to smartphones. However, this is easier said than done. This is because, unlike other wireless headsets, this headphone connects to your device through a dongle. Therefore, you need to connect the dongle to your smartphone using an OTG cable and then connect this headset.

Q2. Can You Use The Corsair HS70 Wireless While Charging?

Ans: Yes, you can use this headset at the same time it’s getting charged. To do so, just plug this in charge and wear it around while staying close to the charger. However, doing this can become uncomfortable and is not recommended.

Q3. Is The Corsair HS70 Wireless Good For Gaming?

Ans: Yes, this headset is pretty good for gaming. However, you must know that since it’s a wireless headset, it will not be as good as high-end wired gaming earphones. Wireless headphones will always have a bit higher audio latency, too much of which can ruin gaming experiences.

Final Verdict: Is The Corsair HS70 Wireless Worth Buying In 2023?

The Corsair HS70 Wireless is a pretty good option for gamers. It’s a great wireless gaming headset with 16 hours of long-lasting battery life. It has on-ear controls for volume, as well as support for both PC and PS4.

The two downsides I found are regarding its mic quality and smartphone support. It has a low-quality mic which needs enhancements from other apps to make your voice decent. In addition, it lacks a wireless Bluetooth connection, instead relying on a USB dongle. I will never recommend this headset for smartphone use.

ProsCons
1. Wireless connectivity with PC and PS41. While it says 40 ft., connectivity starts lagging after 10 ft.
2. The detachable boom mic2. No 7.1 surround sound support on PS4 (Pro version)
3. 16 hours of battery life3. Difficult to connect to smartphones (needs OTG cable)
4. On-ear volume control4. The mic catches surrounding noise pretty easily
5. Pretty lightweight
6. Good sound quality
7. Comfortable and durable build
8. Affordable price
