Sennheiser Game One Gaming Headset Features

Sennheiser Game One Gaming Headset

The primary features of the Sennheiser Game One Gaming Headset – Black are:

1. Volume Controls

This headset has volume controls placed on the headphones themselves. Unlike a scroll wheel on the wire that we see as volume control on most gaming headphones, this one is iconically different. Instead of a scroller, this headset has a flat wheel on the side of the ear cups. You can simply rotate the wheel left and right to control the volume.

2. Microphone Controls

Like many gaming headphones, this headset features a microphone with a flexible boom arm. Therefore, you can easily use the boom arm to easily adjust the position of the headphone. In addition, this boom arm design is touted to reduce background noise while you speak to your teammates in-game.

3. Noise Cancellation

Sennheiser has stated that noise cancellation is present on this headphone. This is included in both the earcups and the boom arm microphone as well. Therefore, you will not be able to hear any external sound while any audio is being transmitted from this headset. The same goes for the mic as well. While you speak, it has an automatic noise reduction feature in it to remove external noises as much as possible.

4. Platform Compatability

Sennheiser Game One Gaming Headset is made in a way to ensure that users can use it with any device. Be it your desktop, laptop, PS5, or even Xbox – the 3.5mm cable jack is universal and fits all. Therefore, hardcore gamers who have all these gaming platforms will be in a state of ecstasy by using one headset for all.

Sennheiser Game One Gaming Headset Review

After using the Sennheiser Game One PC Gaming Headset – Black for some time, here are my honest impressions of it:

Build Quality

The build quality of this earphone is pretty solid. You can get the Sennheiser Game One Gaming headset with a very plushy, velvet sponge pad. These felt pretty comfortable, especially on my big ears, which slid inside the ear cups comfortably. The material these ear cups are made of seems to feel premium as well. This is because they are soft memory cushions that cause no overheating issues.

The same can be said for the overall frame as well, which is pretty sturdy and durable. I was able to stretch it around easily to accommodate the overall size of your head. In addition, the build of the mic also felt pretty solid. It was firm and not flimsy at all.

Sound

This headset features the use of Sennheiser’s patented One HiFi audio system. This provides a studio-quality sound that any audiophile would enjoy while listening to various songs that they want. Be it listening to heavy metal, bass-heavy hip hop, or instrumentals jazz –  every instrument can be heard with superb clarity.

This gets heightened in gaming, where you can hear the rustling of winds, bullet-to-bullet gunfire, and enemy footsteps clearly. Therefore, if you are a competitive FPS gamer who loves to play games like Rainbow Six: Siege or Valorant, you can definitely go for this headset. I loved playing The Last Of Us II on the PS5, where the shrieks of the infected and the booming rifle shots sent shivers down my spine.

However, the most fun I had while gaming using this headset was while playing DOOM Eternal. Each and every shotgun pellet filled my ears with the extra oomph that gave me eargasms left and right. Combine that with the stomping heavy metal soundtrack by Mick Gordon – I was on cloud nine. Ripping apart enemies in half and listening to the sound of their tissues being shredded gave me a certain sensation of calm I cannot experience in words.

Microphone

The microphone of this headset is lacking in terms of quality but is offset by its flexible and sturdy design. I was easily able to flex around the mic to my liking so that my teammates could hear me clearly. However, the clarity is not quite up there with other similarly priced headsets.

I had to use NVIDIA RTX Voice and Discord’s built-in noise suppressor to give you the clarity boost it needed. However, if you will be video and voice calling a lot, it will suffice.

Sennheiser Game One Gaming Headset Customer Reviews

Here’s what Jacob D. had to say about the Sennheiser Game One Gaming Headset review after buying it from Amazon:

“I bought both the Sennheiser PC 38X and the Sennheiser Game One (which supposedly is a refresh of the older PC 37x). They both sound fantastic. The sound is fairly neutral and dynamic (realistic sounding, not exaggerated in the bass or treble) with a nice open soundstage. I like that these are open-back headphones so I hear people around me when working from home or gaming and not be startled with their presence.

I like being able to rotate the mic out of my face, and that it mutes the mic (with an audible mechanical click so I know I’m really muted). The bass is only marginally better on the PC 38X, and I can’t tell a difference between the mids and highs. No discernable difference with mic quality between headsets. While wearing glasses, the Game One feels more comfortable on my head with its soft velour ear pads and lighter clamping force.

If you go with the Game One, you should feel happy with the money you saved vs the PC 38X and I’d say you are getting 95 % of the same sound experience.”

Sennheiser Game One Gaming Headset Alternatives To Consider

1. Logitech G430 Gaming Headset

The Logitech G430 is pretty good for gamers. It has great dynamic audio, which works quell on co0mpetitive multiplayer games and getting immersed in movies. In addition, it has one of the more decent mics in the industry that provides great voice and pitch modulation by default to make your sound crystal clear. However, while it has noise cancellation, its sound leaks a lot. My friend beside me could hear every gunshot in-game.

2. Steelseries Siberia 200

The SteelSeries Siberia 200 is a pretty great headset with good sound quality. It’s great for gamers since it has spatial audio that enhances your in-game performance. However, it suffers from design issues where you cannot comfortably adjust the earcups, especially if you have a bigger-than-average head. Also, the mic is pretty lackluster in quality compared to other headsets in its price range, which is already higher than what it should be.

Q1. Where Can I Download Sennheiser Game One Gaming Headset Drivers?

You can download the Sennheiser Game One Gaming Headset driver from its official website.

Q2. Does The Sennheiser Game One Gaming Headset Have Surround Sound Support?

No, the Sennheiser Game One Gaming Headset does not support 5.1 or 7.1 surrounding sound. It has a normal stereo sound.

Conclusion

The Sennheiser Game One Gaming Headset has superb sound quality, which struck a chord in me the most. It has crystal clear audio quality, which made my gaming and Netflix-binging experience all the better. When it comes to its frame, it’s pretty durable and comfortable, as I felt no discomfort wearing it for long hours.

However, its mic is in my opinion its weakest part. This compromised my multiplayer  gaming experience, where communication with teammates is crucial for victory. Overall, it’s a great headset that you can buy for its price tag. However, I wish it had more features, and support for wireless connectivity as well.
