Horizon Forbidden West Walkthrough For Overriding Tallnecks

Tallnecks can be pretty tricky to find and override. Therefore, start reading this Horizon Forbidden West walkthrough to override them.

1. Cinnabar Islands

The easternmost Tallneck, which is found in Cinnabar Sands, is the first one you’ll encounter. It may be located not too far southeast of Plainsong, in the center of No Man’s Land.

You can’t just ascend from the ground after finding this Tallneck. You must first climb to a higher elevation before jumping to the lower one. However, this Tallneck is strolling around a massive satellite dish’s wreckage.

On the ladder, you will find a red lock. Shoot it to lower it. This will help you to ascend the satellite. After that, you’ll find a powered-up but inactive console.

Keep going up until you reach the middle platform. Then, you may lower a second ladder to the right and descend.

Swing across the platform at the lower end of the staircase to access power cells. Utilize your Shieldwing to glide to the ground without receiving any fall damage. Then remove it and bring it down with you.

Bring the power cell to the location under the satellite dish by picking it up. Put it in, and the satellite will get power again.

Retrace your steps to the console, then turn it on. As a result, the satellite launches itself.

However, a few substantial connections are twisted, making it impossible for the satellite to move into place. Nevertheless, the dish gets lined perfectly if you cut the ties with your spear or arrows.

Utilize the handholds on the dish’s outside to ascend to the top. You may sprint, leap, and then glide using your Shieldwing to the Tallneck from the top of the dish. Here, you must land on the ledges on its neck.

To disable the device, ascend to the very top of the Tallneck and hit the Triangle button.

2. The Shining Wastes

West of Arrowhand is where you’ll discover the next Tallneck.

However, you can’t climb it since nothing around will allow you to get sufficiently high. At present, there is no way to override it. Later on, during the quest, “The Wings of the Ten,” you can climb this Tallneck and override it.

3. Salt Bite

This Tallneck in Salt Bite is special since you may discover it in a partially constructed underground Cauldron. You will have to override this Tallneck to exit the Cauldron in the mission “Cauldron: IOTA.”

After claiming its core from underground, you must search for the Tallneck’s lost head under the Cauldron. It will start to migrate toward the body after clearing some material off the head.

You must defeat a few automatons along the road, but ultimately this Tallneck will be activated, at which point you may ascend to its head to override it. Finally, you will ascend and leave the Cauldron due to the shockwave, accomplishing both goals.

4. The Stillsands

You will find this Tallneck at Camp Nowhere, south of the Stillsands, in this Horizon Forbidden West Walkthrough

You’ll find a little camp as you go closer to this Tallneck, where Aloy automatically looks at a broken gadget. Finally, Aloy decides to lower the Tallneck under so she may perform repairs after examining all the hints.

On the Tallneck, there are a couple of weak points which will have sparks around it. You must use the different ballistas inside the camp to shoot bolts in these places. Wait for the Tallneck to get closer before firing at its vulnerable areas. Three well-placed ballista shots will do the trick here. Meanwhile, various machines will begin to assault you.

The Tallneck will fall down after being struck by three harpoons. After dealing with any nearby machinery, go up to the head of the Tallneck And take control to override it

5. The Stand Of The Sentinels

On the southernmost part of Cliffwatch, you will see this Tallneck circling a deserted village in the trees.

In this Horizon Forbidden West Walkthrough, Aloy will inform you that she has to climb up to reach this Tallneck. You have to climb up various platforms that are dangling from the trees.

You will eventually be able to jump on the ledges at the neck of the Tallneck. However, you will soon realize that some of them are missing, making it impossible for you to climb upwards. Therefore, to jump to the Tallneck’s head, you must hop across platforms and keep climbing.

You’ll need to defeat a few Fire Clamberjaws along the road. Once finished, locate a locked ladder. Shoot it to release the lock. Then, keep moving up the ladder.

To go to a distant platform in order to climb higher, use the zip line. For example, you can climb around to the rear of the Tallneck and then jump to the rim of its head from up here to reach the summit. Then all you have to do is start the override process.

6. Landfall

When you reach the Isle of Spires, which is the westernmost region of the map, you will see this Tallneck. Unfortunately, its problem is one of the hardest to complete as well.

You will discover that this Tallneck is mostly immersed in water when you get to its location. You must approach the device and determine what is wrong.

Use Aloy’s Focus on the Tallneck to scan how damaged it is. These components will glow pink. Aloy will conclude after more examination that certain neighboring Glinthawks may contain the missing pieces in their burrows.

You should spot a few Glinthawks if you go to some ruins on the left of this Tallneck. But you’ll have to take out these beats to continue forward.

On the platform, you need to swim across to where you can spot a crate. After firing the lock to lower a ladder, push the container into the water.

Pull the container over with the Pullcaster from the opposite side. Then, ascend the ladder while still atop the container.

To the right, hop across to the next building after crossing the rope. There is a piece of the Tallneck that you initially require on this scrap heap.

You must then go on to another area of this ruin. Be cautious when approaching since Snapmaws are surrounding it if you look at the water.

Find this area to Pullcast your way up once you’ve passed the Snapmaws inside the ruin.

Overpower and defeat the Glinthawk perched on the roof. Then, after dealing with it, take the second component of the Tallneck out of the nest.

Now, return to the Tallneck. Install both components while submerged. It will bring the Tallneck  back to life.

Soon, you will see that it starts to move in circles through the water. You won’t have to climb very high to get it. This Tallneck will start circling another ruin. You must first get there.

You must first pass through the hole in an underwater wall to climb the ruin. On the southeast side is where the hole is.

You should enter a chamber with stairs heading up if you look up and to the right. Then continue up the stairs.

Jump from the rooftops until you reach the Tallneck, where you may then leap over it and ascend its neck.

Turn it around and start the overriding process. Completing this will unlock an achievement in the Horizon Forbidden West trophy guide.
